The thread is here. http://www.quake3world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15587 Its still in beta, and the beta isn't as red as it is now. You can see in the updated screenshots at the bottom that its very red. I am working on it though, but I've been into texture editing lately. The map has been in the ...

I find it way to easy to make things too red in Q3. :D You add a red light and its like woah... :icon25: I'm having the same problem on my forgotten map.

Looks really nice so far in the editor. I don't really understand what is happening with your lights though. Nice to see more quake3 maps. :D

Yes I do. :( I checked if there was a way to get rid of the seams, but I guess there isn't.

Hi Aeon, Thanks for the great feedback. Knowing people actually like it makes me want to improve it. I am big on powerups, but a lot of posts have been about removing some of them, so I will. I want the map to be fun for everyone, not just me. Anyway, I tried using Kell's skyboxes and played around ...

Since I have not tried editing for Quake4 I have no idea what the state is, but I do not remember really having a lot of problems with Quake3, and I started mapping right when it came out. The only issue I had was it was extremely slow compaired to the newest GTKRadiant, and if I recall it crashed a...

Lots of good info here. I didn't know that there were no bots in Q4. I would say 95% of all my Q3 testing and play is with the default bots. hmmm. Looks like I need to do some reading. :icon25:

I am also recently getting back into the mapping community as well, and hearing all of this is depressing. :( I am still mapping for Quake3, but when I get a new computer I would like to move to the next big thing, but it seems like there is no solid next big thing? Of course I am still really not u...

Thanks for all the great feedback guys, really motivates me to make it a little better. Now I’m also really itching to try some of the Q4 maps on here. Time to get a new computer, problem is I kind of want a Mac, and now it seems that id does not do its own Mac ports anymore. Hopefully the new Mac I...

Cool, I played with hint brushes a bit, but I don't bother anymore. Even the most intense Q3 levels run fine on today's computers. Maybe by the time I get to Q4 it will be the same lol. Eliminating detail brushes sound nice. Was always a pain when you forgot to make details and found your map takes ...

Q3 vs Q4 mapping

Hi everyone, as I slowly get back into mapping again with Quake3 I am wondering how it compairs to Quake4 mapping. If you know Q3 mapping fairly well how much of a learning curve is there to Q4 and what are the major changes? How are textures/shaders handled? I was also wondering how intense the map...

Thanks for all the feedback Anwulf. For skyboxes where would I find these? Also I have noticed a lot of people have switched to static skybox's. I notice seams when I run these maps, is this normal? I noticed it was a bit dark in a few area's especially the drop to the plasma gun. I personally think...

Cool thanks Obsidian. I actually googled everywhere for the files and found them because I was missing the textures and shaders when I first reloaded up this map, because all I had was the model. I found the file names and downloaded them one at a time from some directory listing, but I could not fi...

Hi Anwulf, I have noticed a few familiar names. :) Scourge, thanks for checking it out, the back part is definitely supposed to be clipped, I didn’t notice that and will fix it. The front was left on purpose, but maybe I should clip it. I was debating it because I wanted people to still be able to r...

Q3 Forgotten Beta

Hi everyone, I haven’t posted here in ages. Like four or five years. I use to post under the nick Slater, but it seems to be gone. Anyway, I have finished up a map I started in late 2000 for Quake3, this is why it is called Forgotten. I think its my best map to date, but compared to the excellence I...

That's good to know, thanks for all the replies. I am pretty careful with overlap. Maybe a little over kill. Even my clip brushes except for a few do not overlap, but I started looking at my map and there are hundreds of clip brushes that could really be just one clip. Like I have a lot of supports ...

Clip Brushes

Hi all, My first post here in like 4 years. :) I fired up an old Quake3 map and decided to finish it. I started it about 4 years ago, I think I might call it forgotten. :) Anyway, I am a bit rusty. I know that no brushes are supposed to overlap. Does this also apply to playclip? Or can I just do a b...
