Why is Nightshade an option? Is this some poor attempt at a joke or troll?

JDS was a massive favourite, Mir wasn't even the original opponent. Poll fails.

still doesn't change the fact that Mir is done. He is in no position to become the champion again.

How is he "done"? He can beat every heavyweight in the UFC not named JDS, Cain, Reem or Carwin.

You needed this fight to tell you he won't be champion again?

:olo: Looks like Tzatziki has a serious inter-boner for me, glad I could make him mad.

I'd consider it an honor to be knocked in to next week my JDS, he's THAT fucking awesome.

Your definition of 'done' is probably pretty unique. Mir is still dangerous; can still fight top tier athletes, and has the largest submission repertoire in the UFC, if not the whole of MMA. Go through his fight record and see the variety of submissions he's won with. He's still top tier.

Also, I might be alone in thinking that JDS is the most boring heavyweight since Sylvia.

did you see him out there? He looked like a flailing idiot. Is that how he acts when he knows he is outmatched? weak attempts at punching, and weak attempts at take downs... weak attempts all around.

Yes, he got outclassed by the current best fighter in the world.

I hate to say this, Tsakali, but the best people in the world at things generally tend to be pretty good at the things they're best in the world in. They tend to be a lot better than the next best person, even, mostly on account of the fact that they're the best in the world.

I don't want to point out that your logic is a bit silly, but that logic is precisely the same as saying "THANKS FOR COMING OUT LOSERS!" to anyone at London 2012 who finishes after Usain Bolt.

You give the startling impression that you don't really have any idea what you're talking about.

right, so it was a terrible match up. So instead of canceling the fight, they got someone knowingly completely unprepared to fill the gap... I can understand that being the case for a filler fight, but this was a title fight right? So when they blatantly set up a shitty fight for the title, I'm supposed to still applaud? Mir must have known he was not up to it, yet he accepted the payday regardless of the fact that his performance was poor in a very premeditated way. He belittled himself, the fans, and the sport in agreeing to do this.

The peeps at London 2012, are going to compete with the supposition that they can actually achieve something... SO no, what I'm upset about is nothing like what you're accusing me of.

Mir was the next contender after Reem, he had won his last three fights in a row, two of which were finishes. When the number one contender can not fight any more, the number two contender is offered the fight (an incredibly difficult concept to get your head around, no doubt).

You have zero understanding of MMA, considering your comments about how Mir was just "flopping around", and if you think Mir believed he was "not up to it and just in it for a payday" then you know absolutely nothing about fighter psychology also. He was 100% prepared, as he was right in the middle of a full on training camp for his original fight against Cain on the same card. He didn't belittle anything, let alone himself, the sport or the fans. Mir is a two time former champion, was on a three fight win streak and became the number one contender once Reem was removed from the picture. He lost to an incredibly devastating and dominant champion, there's no shame in that.

It was a massive main event for a pay per view card that was fucked up by Reem a few weeks out from the day of the card, they don't just cancel such fights you stupid retard. No one was more deserving of the fight at this moment in time than Mir, and your horribly ignorant opinion doesn't change that fact.

I'm not convinced that every fight they go in, they think they can win. Both Mir's and Lesnar's last fights sure looked that way.

What's worse, turning a fight down straight up or, facing the consequences of defeat?

lets ask Nightshade... do you ever go into a fight you know you're gonna lose?

So you don't understand fighter mentality. Turning down the fight would be the most retarded thing he could have done. Fighters spend years trying to get title shots. Mir's last shot at the title was 2009. Not to mention he would have severely pissed off his boss.

So, you agree that he had no choice...he had to accept, yet he was not mentally prepared, and it showed. It might have not been simply the payday, but he also didn't go into it dreaming that he could win.

No, I don't agree that he had no choice. I said it would have been completely retarded to turn down a title shot considering his entire life is dedicated to receiving one. He was more than mentally prepared, he's a former champion on a three fight win streak who has been fighting for eleven years and was in the middle of an intense training camp. You wouldn't know the first thing about a "champion's mentality". Just shut up, admit you're an ignorant n00b who knows nothing and drop the subject.

I'm gonna drop talking to you about it, that's for sure. It seems that you're not even willing to accept the possibility that he was not mentally prepared for that specific fight.
