Continuing Testing Procedures?

Post by CZghost »

I have an idea, Eraser. Would you like to start making continuing of your Entity Plus map Testing Procedures?
If you like, we can work on the project together. No need to be in the same place at the time, just a Google Disc would be useful. There are actualy two ways to do that:
  1. We will make both our versions of the mission and post in in the Google Disc. Then download both versions and decide on how to combine our versions together to make it naturaly looking...
  2. One of us will make the basic layout and texture usage and the second one will make prefab details. Again with use of Google Disc. Folder for the main .map file and folder for prefabs. Downloadable for both sides...
What do you say? If you're too much busy, tell me...

This is an interesting coincidence. I just recently emailed Eraser this morning a couple things regarding EP, and I briefly mentioned my plans to start a new map and how I started last night, collecting assets that I plan to have, etc.

With your post here, and my recent email, I still fear though that this may still not be enough to persuade him to deviate from his current projects, unfortunately. But, one can only hope.

Like he said in the EP thread. There needs to be more interest in EP: more maps, more mappers, etc. It can't just be only him.

But, let's see what happens.

@deqer:
Yep, let's see what happens. I am slowly preparing for EP mapping nowadays, so maybe the new maapper for EP will appear suddenly :)

If you like, we can work together on another project or make mapping team of me, you and Eraser.
One will make assets, another one prefabs (details) and the last the basic layout...

Alwayit would be better choice of Google Disc than moving to desired place. Comunicate through an mail or IRC, or whatever you want (ICQ or Skype for example), as an alternative for Google Dics would be a Dropbox sharing... Making a Dropbox account is simple and free, if you have no yet. We can make also some friendship to have shared files always be accessible.

Write a feedback, Eraser & deqer... What do you say?

Hey, I appreciate the enthusiasm of both of you :)
deqer, I'm not what you were actually after with your email. You want to create a coop mission? It's an interesting path to travel for me as well, but especially something like coop is a huge undertaking. So I don't really see that happening any time soon to be honest, certainly not now that my son was born 2 weeks ago :) If you have more specific requests then I might be able to squeeze it in.

CZghost, I'm afraid I cannot join you in such a collaborative project. The same reasons apply here, but more than that, I'd really urge you to expand your portfolio first. You've come up with so many grand ideas for maps but never realized a single one of them. As far as I know, you haven't even released any straight up deathmatch maps you built from scratch. Take that as constructive criticism, because you're eager to do stuff and I'd like to see that eagerness translated into something tangible before I dive into a big project without the security of knowing the other party will deliver.

Having said that, you're free to take the Testing Procedures setup, theme and "storyline" and expand those to create a new adventure by yourself.

Well, just to clarify, I was only acknowledging the fact that EP has no co-op as a downside to how grand of a mod EP is and that it should be posted on more gaming news sites. But, I acknowledge that; I understand that certain features would have to be removed, and a lot of re-work would have to be done to bring co-op functionality into it. So, that's fine.

I also commented on your current project; which I think is a great idea.

I wonder how far you've gotten with that project; I look forward to it. Should be an interesting mod for Q3, indeed.

And CZghost, I messaged you.

Oh yeah the Swarmed mod. Not sure how you stumbled upon that but it's not my 'current' mod. I started that befor EntityPlus but never really got much work for it done actually. The idea was to remake Gears of War's Horde mode. I am, however, working on an EP map that's replicating that type of gameplay (for 1 player though). It's a bitch to set up, but I think it might actually end up working.
