Lockout = 3/10 - Fucking rubbish. Guy Pearce obviously roided up for his most disinterested and horribly written performance ever.

In the Loop = 4/10 - There are funny parts to this wayyy too long movie, but 99% of them are with the Malcolm character and his insults. Overall it's a seriously boring movie with lukewarm humour. I could have sworn by the 45 minute mark that approximately 7 years had passed...it's that tedious.

Hijacked = 0/10 - Christ what was I thinking? The wonderful thing about downloading shit movies from teh internets is that you can skip through scenes that you know will suck and can ultimately press the "stop" button when you've seen enough.

Ted = 7/10 - Pretty damned funny...probably for the single reason of a foul-mouthed teddy bear. That and him beating the shit out of Mark Wahlberg.

Big Mommas House Two or whatever the fuck it is called - Switched channels 10 minutes into it. 2.5 for something...

Kung Fu Panda - Awesome. A close 9.

Alien - Freaky but not as freaky as I remembered it. 7.5

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - Not as bad as I remembered it. A solid 6.

Fargo - Brutal as always. Good stuff. Slower than I remembered it. 7.

In Time - Good film. 7.5

Network - 10/10.

Kinda hesitant to rate any movie a 10 but I always come back to this movie. I've seen it a few times now and randomly read or hear or see something and it makes me start thinking about this movie and whenever I think about it I always want to see it again.

I went hunting youtube for this clip earlier to post in another thread and it made me want to watch the whole movie again.

It's available with Netflix streaming for those of you that have it.

The Dark Knight Rises - 8/10 on its own, 9.5/10 as the final piece to the trilogy. Does a fantastic job wrapping everything up, and is a very dark, very engaging movie.

Not having seen TDKR, it will probably turn into a quadrilogy, and then further -ogy's.
Respectfully laying a cash cow like this to rest isn't exactly how Hollywood rolls.

I doubt it. Nolan seems like a pretty real dude. I don't think he'll sell out...

Placing trust in a guy to not sell out. While said guy's income depends on selling out.

Casino Royale (2006)
8/10

Good film, I wasn't expecting it to be any good which is why I hadn't seen it yet. I'd like to watch the next one. It's not the kind of film I think I'd like to watch more than once, though, so the 8/10 seems a bit high, but that is for first time viewing rather than a long-term thing :) Glad to find they made a decent modern Bond film; the Pierce Brosnon one I saw some of was lame as shite.

TDKR: 8/10. It's good, very good, but it's not as good as the second. The reviews saying it's a meld between Returns and TDK are spot on and indeed, it's a well rounded end to the trilogy with the second being the strongest. I get the feeling Nolan was restricted quite a bit after he crammed so much into TDK, which was on the one hand a good thing (see: Moffat's Dr Who, just completely untethered) but it made the story a little bit shallow.

I think they also rather wasted Hardy's performance and actually overall they under sold Bane's prowess. He was brilliant but there was really very little origin story for him and his motivations were kind of hazy beyond the obvious. I don't know, maybe he just needed a little more screen time.

Don't get me wrong though, it was most excellent. Gonna IMAX it at the end of the month.

The dark night rises, ok I guess 8/10 should have a little more 'summer action' puff.

The Dark Knight Rises - 9/10

Took a point off because the movie ended :(

Looking forward to the sequels though.

The Dark Knight Rises = 9/10 - A terrific way to end the series (until the next reboot...which is probably already being worked on by some hack) and will be the last superhero movie I ever watch. Thank fucking God for that.

No other comic hero movie or series-of-movies has come close to the quality of Nolan's Batman movies and I'm betting they never will. Fuck Ironman 3, fuck the Avengers 2, fuck Spiderman 5 and - with the full force of my pelvis - fuck all future superhero movies in the ear.

Damn. Maybe I should go see TDKR

Edit:

Looking forward to this film: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ender's_Game_(film).

It should be rated "R" in order to be good. But, it probably won't. :tear:

and here's why i'm really not looking forward to it (well, not beyond morbid curiosity):
Quote:
Gavin Hood (born 12 May 1963) is a South African filmmaker, screenwriter, producer and actor, best known for writing and directing the Academy Award-winning Foreign Language Film Tsotsi (2005). He is the director of the 20th Century Fox film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, released on 1 May 2009.

The author rejected many directors on the grounds of wanting "someone who could do make the film right". And this.

Still. Kind of have to see it.

i guess i should be fair and mention that most of what i read on the interwebs about Hood blamed fox for the travesty that that "wolverine" movie turned into. before that he had a good reputation, so maybe OSC being anal about keeping the studios' filth away from Ender and giving Hood some actual creative control might work out for the best? casting looks promising.
