What are you folk doing your side of the pond?

Turkey referendum: Dutch are Nazi remnants - Erdogan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has described the Dutch as "Nazi remnants and fascists", as a diplomatic row grows over a cancelled rally.
The Turkish foreign minister was due to speak in the Dutch city of Rotterdam on Saturday in support of a referendum to give Mr Erdogan greater powers.
But the rally was banned for security reasons, and the minister's plane was then refused permission to land.
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said the remark was "way out of line".
"It's a crazy remark of course," Mr Rutte said.
Turkey has summoned the Dutch charge d'affaires for an explanation

Dutch officials have been in talks with the Turks for some time about how to properly organize this with regards to public safety. At one point the Turks started threatening political and economic sanctions if their demands weren't met, so the Dutch government decided Fuck it, you're not getting into our country.

Erdogan isn't being taken seriously by any leader worth their salt so they are mostly hollow statements.
Though the backlash of all too proud Turkish citizens might be an issue.

Nah, but he still has 3 million Syrians worth of leverage.

It's a win win situation; Rutte can play the patriot card because he stood up to the mean dicatator (immediately increasing his chances in the elections today dramatically), Erdogan can play the patriot card because he stood up to the mean foreign fascists (immediately increasing his chances of a 'yes' in the upcoming referendum to increase the presidential powers).

Was what i was thinking this morning as i gassed some jews in my shower at least.

It's a scene from a Dutch comedy show called "Rundfunk". It breaks every rule of political correctness and that makes it glorious to behold.

This particular figure (who is played by a very well respected Dutch actor) is a recurring character who is a German teacher on the high school the entire series takes place in. He makes his students recite words like "waffen", "juden" and "blitzkrieg". He feels his father was innocent when arrested in Argentina and implies the two Jews he's telling this (who incidentally are being kept in a cupboard behind his desk) that they probably have no idea what it is to have your innocent family arrested and taken away.

J.K. Rowling would instantly die ifnshe saw it.

That's the sort of humour there. And don't worry, it's not just Nazis and Jews, it's also disabled people, Christians, black people, gays and fat people. Memphis will love it.

Having said that, it's never really tasteless. They balance on this fine line where they criticize things like racism by caricaturizing racism.
