I'm a big fan of I Will Never Be The Same. They're not an instrumental band, but they have a couple songs you might enjoy:

These should keep you going :)

U4EA mentioned GY!BE already

Exxasens

God is an Astronaut

sleepmakeswaves

Collapse under the Empire

If These Trees Could Talk

Russian Circles

Stars of the Lid

Explosions in the Sky are one of these best, good choice sir, they and all of the above come under the all encompassing genre of post-rock. I've posted a wide selection and if you like a particular one go browse through the related youtube videos or last.fm for simlar bands. Also A Silver Mount Zion aren't always instrumental and they change their name a lot but they're members of GY!BE and you may like them, (their name's always some variation of Silver Mt Zion) Also Esmerine are a wonderful band and you should listen to them. (again, more members of GY!BE). I've seen most of the above live and GY!BE about three times, it's a completely different experience live.

Finally, if you're into metal at all, try Thy Catafalque or Rosetta. They're post-metal and I don't know a single other person that enjoys them, so don't expect great things.

Ahh, i see.

I couldn't arrange anything in time and my party-friend surprised me by also not bringing anything, she told us a story about how she was going to show her boyfriend she could have an excellent time without snorting a shitload of speed, which is how she usually parties. So we went there totally packing nothing and planned on maybe getting drunk, which turned out to be an idea so expensive we abandoned it in favor of water halfway... if we hadn't come across these very friendly guys who were more than willing to share their M with us it might have been a sober party.

Not that i’d mind, i really really like this hyperactive bouncy stuff, don’t need drugs to enjoy the hell out of it.

Helps though :smirk:

It's probably because i grew up with this music, this stuff has always been highly popular here ever since it was invented and it's always clicked with me. So when i went to my first big party i sold my soul to the techno demon forever, it was better than sex.

Also, massive parties is one of the things we dutchies do extremely well, every summer there’s a plethora of different outdoor festivals featuring the world’s most influental artists in every electronic genre you can think of, with crowds of 30.000 or so being no exception – i’d be hardpressed to believe you wouldn’t enjoy yourself at one even if you don’t really dig the music :)

I like techno as a general genre, I do, and since I dont listen to much music, it's actually my favorite genre...and yes I was gonna mention that the scene there is probably more enjoyable / genuine, than the shit here in the US which usually attracts all the remaining fuckheads that rap hasn't claimed.

I don't even know. I intentionally avoided using that label because it doesn't make sense to me. For the most part, labeling things in subgenres is more trouble than anything. You might consider something part of the genre that I don't and vice-versa. It seems to work better for electronica, as different subgenres are more stylistically different than others, and the only constant really is it's all synthesized. I feel I can say that I like trance, but dislike dubstep. There really is no overlap for me, but in "rock" there's a lot more.

Some more that I feel are in a similar vein to the links I posted last time:

Do Make Say Think - Chinatown

I wanted to link 'Bound to Be That Way' but I honestly couldn't find it on Youtube, look it up on Spotify if you have it.

This Will Destroy You - Quiet

A more mellow track by this band: 'Killed the Lord, Left for the New World'

 Haha, do you still like all of them? I find myself deleting songs and albums from my library that I liked 3-5 years ago because I no longer care to hear them come up on the shuffled play list. I buy all my music so they're not gone forever, but in a way that makes it worse because it feels like a lot of money wasted haha

I can't stand hardcore metal anymore. Stuff like Dimmu Borgir, Pantera, and Opeth doesn't get played these days. The angry teenage years are long gone.
