Was that a used bike Eraser? Cause it looks like someone took it for a ride before you did.

It's the dealership's demo bike. It has about 500 km on the dial so no, it's not new but nearly as good as.

Ah kk makes sense. That back tire is going to wear out quick fyi... I had the same one on mine, only lasted about 9k. I highly recommend the Micheline Pilot road series, especially if you drive on the highway on a regular basis. Those lasted me about 12k.

So been out for any long rides yet? I couldn't stay off mine when I first got it.

No I haven't, because it's going to take another 2 weeks before it's delivered. They're going to service it first and give it a good spit polish ;)
It's so busy now though that they didn't have a spot in their workshop for the next two weeks. Kinda sucks but oh well, two weeks closer to good weather I guess

I envy your patience. I could not do that, I took a course and bought the bike the day before my test so that I could take the test, get insured and pickup the bike literally right after I passed. That first ride out of the shop is still ingrained in my memory.

It's not patience. It's not really having a choice right now ;)
Having said that, when I look out the window now I see dark rainclouds and chilly winds outside. Not exactly favorable riding weather.

It's called a swing-arm bag, goober.

The only way that bike gets manlier is if you put Chuck Norris on it. :olo:

Re: What is new in your little world..

Having a quiet and peaceful day celebrating ANZAC Day in beautiful autumn weather but looking forward to joining in at a BBQ with friends and neighbours later afternoon.

What's ANZAC Day?

Stole 6 running-meters of old grey weathered, anted, wormed and whatnot 15X25cm wooden beams from a deconstruction site on my company compound.
Grinded and brushed and epoxied, and grinded and brushed and waxed 'em.
They'll make fabulous decorative beams; it really is something to work with.
They still have some 30 running-meters laying around at the deconstruction site. Gonna snap 'em on Sunday if they're still there.

I've seen this sort of work done before and they come up beautifully. Pics of the surface finish might be nice for the crowd.

Aye Sir,
gonna make some photos on Sunday.

But to keep your expectations low: Only the 6 meters I already got were weathered,; the other ones, if available, had been coated with simple black paint. No laqueur but simple paint. And all of them 30 meters were not in direct contact with the sun or weather. They are just 20 year old beams.

Got the bike today. Made its maiden voyage. Weather was a bit shitty but I persevered and at the end the sun momentarily even broke through. The start of something beautiful :)

Photos as promised, Whiskey7. Better late than never. It's gonna be a rather lenghty reply due to unforeseen circumstances :):

Well, these were the raw beams:

And that's one after grinding and sanding down to feelgood:

2.65 meters long, 20-30 kilos, solid pure open wood there. No glaze, nothing. Not sure yet how I'll threat the beams. Got 6 of them now.

Anyways, this is nothing compared to the shit that came out of nowhere into the shop today:

2 of the original cameras that were used to film Das Boot.
The black left and second to right things are the actual cameras, the grey and blue things are strong hulls that the cameras were housed in, like compartements.

The blue hull in closeup:

It does not look waterproof, so it probably was used for shots inside the "dry, interior set". It might have been just a cover to not damage the actual camera when running around inside the (extremely narrow) set. I'm just guessing, we haven't been told yet.

Turns out the actual camera on that left black thing from shot 01 is even smaller. It's this SONY CCD.

And here's a look inside the blue hull:

This thing must have been made from a mold, much like boat-hulls are done today. Epoxy and fiberglass brushed into a negative. But I do wonder how they formed the first positive (the master) that they would then take the negative of.

Yeah, that was a very eventful day today.

After all the dust settled, I thought to myself: "Fuck it, I need a beer and get done with my pedalboard."
So, here's my first attempt at building a pedalboard for guitar-effects-pedals made from trash and leftovers:

Next Saturday, as part of a fundraiser/speed climbing competition, my team of 4 will be trying to climb over 18,000 vertical feet within 4 hours. Of that, I plan on doing 5,000 feet myself - that means I'll have to climb at a rate of about 83 feet (25 metres) per minute!

By comparison, the CN Tower here in Toronto is only 1,815 feet and the Burj Khalifa is only 2,717 feet.

A pretty mean feet obsidian. That 25 metres per minute sounds impossible to maintain. So what's the climb conditions? Internal climb facility or outside in the elements? And, what length of time will you be climbing for as it sounds an impossible task.

Laps in a climbing gym. 4 hour event. I have a team of 4 who will switch out, only one person climbing at a time. So assuming we have about equal time climbing, that leaves us with an hour/person.
