Probably by working out, consuming enough calories to make up for the increased activity, as well as eating enough protein to ensure proper anabolism of new muscle fibers. I've heard good things about creatine as well but don't know the specifics behind it. It is a naturally occurring substance already so a bit more of it is likely totally harmless.

Creatine, BCAAs, lots of protein (meat, shakes etc) and lifting heavy shit.

What are you looking to achieve?

Ask about Duhard's epic workout plan and then do the opposite.

unfortunately a little bit of both. I'm in ok shape now, but i want to add a little more size without the bloated look that seems to usually accompany that.

already know of the importance of protein, so doing that already...looks like I got 2 votes on creatine... i'll read up on it

as for lifting heavy weights... what if it just doesnt feel right? should i drop reps and force the heavier weight anyway?

i usually do, 10-12 reps 5 sets of 3 to 4 types of exercises per muscle group . the reason for the 5 sets is because I'm doing this at home with some free weights, and the types of exercises i can do are limited. But if it proves that i need to add to the variety i might just have to douche it up at a gym :disgust:

You might not be working out hard enough to put on muscle, especially since you've just got free weights at home. It's gonna be hard to put on mass without the main mass-building exercises (squat/press/bench/deadlift).

A press is a press. A bench press is a press performed while lying down on a bench.

Press is pushing a weighted bar from front rack position to over your head

Also if you don't want to inject you could always try Andriol? :smirk:

yeah, I want a conscious free approach to this. and if it means no epic gains are to be had so be it. and I'm not willing to invest 2 hours of my life to doing this. All I can justify is tops 45 minutes 5 days a week, and that should include some cardiovascular routine. That can be considered a sustainable life style for me.
