What Kat means is, why not just export it from Gmax as an ASE/MD3 and import directly into Radiant. Skips milkshape importing and exporting entirely.

Besides, brush vertexes sitting off grid have been very well known to cause all sorts of problems. Don't say I didn't warn you.

why don't you just use gmax with the md3 export pipeline? that way you can have all the smoothing you want

Don't worry, the reg hack has been used as an 'accepted' way to get gmax working for those that have had registration problems in the past. Obviously they'd rather it wasn't done, but they do know people do it.

Incase the gmax users in here didn't know, Discreet have discontinued the app and as of the end of this month you won't be able to get it at all.

So if you've not activated or downloaded, now would be a good time to do so.

o'dium, I meant what modeler you use, sry. Also, is there some way I can contact you for advice? I am modeling with gmax and I will probably just need like, exporting help and things like that. Be sure to post in LEM when q2e is actually released also because I would definitely not want to miss it!

Another suggestion is: don't use patches for anything ever. If you need to make a curved structure, do it in gmax or 3DS with smoothing groups then export to md3. Much 1337er and no sparkly shit.

His old 'Mojo' site is dead as it was linked to the original gmax server which died quite a while ago. GMax stuff is all now handled by TurboSquid.

An ASE importer/exporter for gmax would be even more handy.

Actually, a brain->editor importer would be handiest of all, cutting out the unnecessary and time-consuming brush-building work.

Chris Cookson's (Mojo) site's (hopefully temporarily) down so his Gmax/3dsMAX importer/exporter plugins are unaccessible.

Here's one mirror for those who still need his plugins:

I get the same error with 3DS max 7, MilkShape and gmax. "Wrong file format!".

Thanks!

Funny, i allways use Milkshape to import, no plugins needed whatsoever. Although come to think, my version is rather old (3 or 4 years)
